Kufesque
This model draws inspiration from the popular margin pattern commonly found in Pirebedil (Shirvan), Göllu-Chichi (Quba), and various other carpets. Known as the Kufesque margin, early forms of this design appear in fourteenth-century rugs, closely connected to decorations utilizing Kufic script, the oldest calligraphic form of Arabic. Kufic script was prominent in 8th-10th century manuscripts and used for mosque arch inscriptions during the early Mongol period.
