Salyan

Inspired by the Salyan carpet, this jewellery model captures the essence of its rich and ancient legacy, originating from the Shirvan group of Guba-Shirvan carpet-making. Typically, these carpets feature two mythical birds and a central medallion adorned with large octagonal medallions. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, the birds, in traditional belief, symbolize cosmic forces, connected to the sun. The city of Salyan, founded on the remnants of a 14th-century settlement at the Kura River’s estuary, now thrives as the heart of Azerbaijan’s fishing industry. Reflecting this heritage, the collection’s Salyan jewellery pieces showcase two fish and waves, representing the Kura River.
