Shaki
This design was inspired by the intricate Sheki latticework, a distinctive art form using glass. Situated in one of Azerbaijan’s most picturesque regions, Sheki is among the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, with archaeological findings tracing human habitation back over 2,500 years. The majestic Sheki Khan Palace, a symbol of Sheki’s heritage, was constructed in the 18th century without a single nail or drop of glue. It features latticework, a technique of assembling wood and colored glass. Known for its skilled artisans, craftsmen, and silk production, Sheki attracted merchants from across the Silk Road. Consequently, special attention was given to the construction of caravanserais, or merchants’ inns, whose windows often showcased vibrant and beautiful latticework.
