Crivelli Star
These pieces draw inspiration from the Crivelli Star, named after Carlo Crivelli, an Italian Renaissance painter who frequently incorporated this ornament into his artwork. Often associated with Ottoman Turkish carpets, this design is also evident in a 15th-century specimen housed in the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest. However, the largest collections of carpets featuring 16-point medallions are found in Caucasian carpets from Guba and Dagestan.
