This model draws inspiration from the popular margin pattern commonly found in Pirebedil (Shirvan), Göllu-Chichi (Quba), and other carpets, known as the Kufic margin. Early versions of this design appear in 14th-century rugs, where patterns are closely tied to decorations using Kufic script, the oldest calligraphic form of Arabic. Kufic script dominated manuscripts from the 8th to 10th centuries and was used for architectural inscriptions in mosques during the early Mongol period.
